How to get more Google reviews (without being annoying)

Ask any owner what wins them new customers and they'll say "word of mouth." Google reviews *are* word of mouth — at scale, in public, 24/7. They're also one of the strongest signals Google uses to decide who shows up in the Map Pack.

Why reviews matter more than your website's design

Most people decide whether to trust you before they ever click your site. They scan your star rating, read two or three recent reviews, and move on. A steady stream of fresh, genuine reviews does more for your business than almost anything else you can control.

The simplest system that works

  • Ask in person, at the peak moment — right after a happy customer thanks you. That's when they mean it.
  • Make it one tap — text or email them your Google review link. Don't make them search.
  • Ask consistently, not in bursts. Five reviews a month beats forty in one week (which looks fake to Google).
  • Reply to every review — a warm thank-you on the good ones, a calm, helpful response on the rough ones.

What not to do

Never buy reviews or offer discounts in exchange for them — Google can spot it, and it can get your profile penalized. Authenticity is the whole point.
